Nationally, French Bulldog Holds On To The Top Spot

NEW YORK, March 20, 2024 /PRNewswire/ -- After being named Atlanta's #1 dog breed in 2022, the French Bulldog once again took Atlanta's top spot in the American Kennel Club's (AKC^®) 2023 ranking of the most popular AKC-recognized dog breeds in the U.S.

The French Bulldog was also recognized as the #1 pup in Boston and Chicago.

The Barbet saw a big leap this year, jumping from #23 in 2022 to #5 in 2023, replacing the Rottweiler in the top five. Friendly and sweet-natured, the Barbet is intelligent and easy to live with. The Australian Shepherd rose in the top twenty, jumping from #19 in 2022 to #14 in 2023.

Since overtaking the loveable Labrador Retriever as the most popular breed, the French Bulldog's popularity has continued to surge. The breed is playful, adaptable and has an even temperament. Frenchies are very popular among city dwellers, as they're also portable and get along with almost anyone.
