Houston Interscholastic Open Polo Team Clinches Fourth Consecutive National Championship

HOUSTON, March 18, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- The Houston Interscholastic Open Polo Team has once again demonstrated its dominance in high school polo, securing its fourth consecutive USPA National Interscholastic Open Polo Championship title with a decisive 11-7 victory over Battlefield Polo Club from Virginia at the Empire Polo Club in Indio, California.

Led by team captain Joe Bob Lequerica, a high school junior in his fifth year on the team, Houston's championship win capped off a season defined by dedication, teamwork, and resilience. Lequerica led the scoring effort, while teammates Judah Altic, Faris Hanna, and Asa Gangjee played crucial roles in securing the victory.

• Judah Altic, a sophomore in his fourth year on the team, anchored Houston's defense with smart positioning and key interceptions.

In true Houston spirit, the team was sent off to the championship with a lively asado fundraiser hosted by Troy Lequerica (the team captain's uncle) and Tate Seward — a gathering that not only raised funds for travel expenses but also celebrated the team's achievements and the city's thriving polo culture.
