Hospitality Stands Out for Gender-Neutral Scheduling Flexibility: OysterLink Analysis
This near-equality sets hospitality apart from many other industries, where men are more likely than women to report having flexible schedules. For example, in education, 21% of men reported flexible schedules compared with only 10.1% of women. In management roles, 47.7% of men reported having flexibility, compared with 43% of women.

The Bureau of Labor Statistics data show that 27.6% of workers overall in the leisure and hospitality sector report flexible schedules, a rate higher than in manufacturing (24%), education (23.9%), and healthcare and social assistance (26%). Within the hospitality industry, both accommodation and food services workers benefit, with 28% of men and 27.1% of women reporting flexibility.
This finding highlights the hospitality industry's commitment to supporting a diverse workforce. From restaurants to hotels, the ability to work evenings, weekends, or nontraditional shifts provides opportunities that many other fields do not.
