BillyD Releases The Lost Highway Through Foundry 27 Records

"Four chords and the truth" anchor an Americana album drawn from roads traveled and the people along the way.

CHICAGO, Oct. 1, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- BillyD will release The Lost Highway on October 5, 2026, through Foundry 27 Records.

The album is built from stories about family, love, loss, relationships, the road and the people we meet along the way. For BillyD, songwriting has always come back to one simple idea: four chords and the truth.

The road runs through The Lost Highway as both a real place and a metaphor for life. Sometimes you know exactly where you're going. Sometimes you don't know where you'll land.

That way of writing represents a shift from how Bill Daker first learned to craft songs. In Chicago-area band Charmed Life, Daker wasn't the singer. The guitar was how he had a voice, and his contribution began with the music, writing, shaping arrangements and finding the parts that gave a song its identity.

With BillyD, the process begins somewhere else. Now the story comes first. The words grow out of thought, memory and lived experience, and as they come together they carry the story and become the foundation of the song. The music now serves the story, giving the words movement, emotion and life.

"There are only 12 notes in music. Words are endless." — BillyD

"In Charmed Life, the guitar was how I had a voice," Daker says. "With BillyD, I found my new voice."

That evolution sits at the heart of The Lost Highway, years of making music meeting years of living life, with the story leading the way.

Real stories. Real songs. Same guy.

The Lost Highway, from BillyD and Foundry 27 Records, will be available October 5 on major streaming platforms, at BillyD-Music on YouTube, and at BillyDMusic.com.
