Autism United of Wisconsin Celebrates April is Autism Inclusion Month

MILWAUKEE, March 31, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- Autism United of Wisconsin (AUW) is introducing a new and exciting "rally cry" for all persons with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), as well as their families, educators and care providers. Branded "April is Autism Inclusion Month," Autism United is evolving their mission beyond previous national "awareness" and "acceptance" campaigns to the ultimate goal of inclusion for all affected by Autism and other neurodivergent challenges.

"Each day is our opportunity as a society to move us one step closer to a better life for children, teens and adults with ASD," says Rechelle Chaffee, Autism United of Wisconsin Executive Director. "Almost 3% of all births in the U.S. today will lead to a diagnosis of Autism — with higher rates among Blacks, then Hispanics, then Asians. Autism cuts across all ethnicities, all geographies, all economics. The time to embrace and welcome ASD individuals without prejudice — but instead, with kindness, understanding and love — is now."

AUW Board President Kelly Backes added that "Autism Inclusion Month should really be called 'Mission Autism: Inclusion.' It's been an upspoken goal for all of us at this organization, as well as all of us who are parents, family and friends, to see our neurodivergent loved ones walk through open doors. And it's a goal we'll champion not only in April, but every day and every month ahead."

Autism United of Wisconsin aims to expand the organization's efforts to the state's 72 counties and potentially beyond, providing services, support, information, education, resources and other valuable assistance to children, teens and adults on the Autism Spectrum, as well as families, friends, educators and caregivers.
