Americas Cardroom Pro Alex Foxen Leads GPI Player of the Year Race

Foxen also trails the Card Player Player of the Year lead by only 18 points.

SAN JOSE, Costa Rica, Aug. 24, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Americas Cardroom Pro Alex Foxen leads the 2026 Global Poker Index Player of the Year standings and is only 18 points from first place in the Card Player Player of the Year race.

Foxen holds 4,480.04 GPI points, 158.52 more than second-place Tony "Ren" Lin, who has 4,321.52. The GPI system counts a player's top 13 qualifying results in open events during the calendar year.

The Card Player contest is tighter. Brandon Wilson leads with 7,127 points, followed by Foxen with 7,109 and Jesse Lonis with 6,481. Foxen has five Card Player-qualified titles, 12 final tables and $4,229,256 in qualified winnings this year.

Foxen's five wins have come at five tournament stops. They include a $1.26 million victory in the $75,000 Pot-Limit Omaha 6-Max event at Triton Jeju and his fourth World Series of Poker bracelet, earned by winning the $10,000 Super Turbo Bounty event for $594,246.

He joined the Americas Cardroom Pro roster alongside Chance Kornuth and Chris Hunichen on May 28. Foxen later completed the 2026 WSOP with 14 cashes and $2,067,005 in listed payouts.

Foxen previously won consecutive GPI Player of the Year titles in 2018 and 2019. A 2026 victory would be his third GPI honor, while a Card Player win would be his first after five prior top-four finishes.
