St. Kitts and Nevis Integrates Biometric Enrolment With the Passport Process

Basseterre, St. Kitts and Nevis--(Newsfile Corp. - September 2, 2026) - The St. Kitts and Nevis Citizenship Unit confirm that from 1 September 2026, passport production becomes part of the biometric enrolment process.

Biometric enrolment will now become a central component of the passport application, with fingerprints and photographs captured at enrolment incorporated directly into the applicant's submission.

The change consolidates information previously collected through separate stages of the application process. Under the new approach, an applicant's personal information, biometric data and supporting documents will be submitted digitally through the official Government Portal following notarisation, allowing the information to form part of the complete application before it is transferred to the Passport Office.

Fewer Physical Requirements

The shift to a digital application process is expected to reduce the number of physical submissions required from applicants. Supporting documents will generally no longer need to be submitted in physical form.

Citizens will no longer need to provide a separate physical passport photograph, as the photograph captured during biometric enrolment will be used for passport purposes.

From Biometric Enrolment to Passport Production

The integration links biometric enrolment directly to passport production, so information captured at enrolment passes to the Passport Office for review.

Passport production will remain centralised in St. Kitts, with passports issued to citizens by investment continuing to be produced and dispatched through the Passport Office. They will not be available for collection through other locations in the biometric network, including High Commissions and Embassies.

Passport production will be included in the upfront payment made through the portal, although government application fees exclude passport delivery or other agent fees.

Four-to-Six-Week Production Period

The transition will initially involve a four-to-six-week lead time for passport production, calculated from the later of 1 September 2026, or the date biometric enrolment was completed.

The timeframe reflects the expected volume of passports to be produced during the initial phase of implementation.
