Shares of Forest Oil (NYSE: FST) are skidding along session lows...currently trading down $0.50 (-3.72%) at $12.93.

A large majority of Independent Oil & Gas stocks are selling off today, with shares of Apache (NYSE: APA) down 2.46%, Devon Energy (NYSE: DVN) down 1.6%, EOG Resources (NYSE: EOG) 2.15% lower, and Chesapeake Energy (NYSE: CHK) getting hit by 2.55%. However, Forest Oil, seems to be lower than most, seeing no relief from CapitalOne's initiation of coverage today. The firm started FST with an 'Add' rating and $17 price target.

The 52-wk range of FST is $8.88 - 40.23, with shares tumbling from around $40 a year ago down to about $9 in Oct 2011, but since then, the stock has rebounded (almost doubling between Oct and mid-Nov). In this case, 'timing is everything' considering you'd have lost your shirt buying shares a year ago, but made 40% if you bought under $10 two months ago.
