James River Coal (JRCC) Volatility Up as Traders Take Profits

June 21, 2012 1:27 PM EDT
James River Coal Co. (Nasdaq: JRCC) shares are lower after making a nice pop

Implied volatility is up 24.2 percent from yesterday's close and up 96.6 percent over the trailing annual average.

After a 27 percent run Wednesday, investors are taking some profit while they can.

Of note, shares approached their 50-day SMA at $3.57. Given the recent weakness in coal and dimmed outlook on multiple fronts for demand to pick up within the year, shares are well off annual highs of $22 high last July.
