Jamba, Inc (Nasdaq: JMBA), which hasn't been on investors' radar lately, is making a move to the upside. Shares are higher by 5.55% and pennies away from a new 52-week high. Today's volume is 2x normal with two hours left in the session.
Jamba, Inc.(Jamba) is a holding company, which owns and franchises Jamba Juice stores through its wholly owned subsidiary, Jamba Juice Company.
The stock has been stuck in the $2 range for what seems like forever (well, since 2010), but before that, the company was somewhat of a small-cap Wall Street darling. However, growth stalled as the franchise explosion was less than anticipated, and space on store shelves ended in limited supply. With only 773 stores (305 company owned & 444 franchised & 24 international), it's a far cry from Starbucks' (Nasdaq: SBUX) range of almost 7,000.
Investors eventually lost interest and shares toppled from around $10 down to less than $1. Again, shares had recovered, but only to about the $2 range.
