After slumping nearly 23 percent earlier on news Google (Nasdaq: GOOG) bought Motorola Mobility (NYSE: MMI), InterDigital, Inc. (Nasdaq: IDCC) is recovering some of those losses into the close. Shares are now down 13.6 percent.
Earlier, M-Partners' Ron Shuttleworth told us he would recommend buying on today's weakness. This is looking like a smart call so far.
Interestingly, another patent play - VirnetX Holding Corp (AMEX: VHC) - is also surging into the close. VirnetX is up 20 percent.
Speculators believe one of these two will be the next takeover target in the developing smartphone patent war.
