Nikkei Opens Lower On Radiation Worries
Japan's Nikkei opened sharply lower Tuesday as nuclear fears escalated again, after calming over the past week. Concerns are now keenly focused on harmful radiation spreading to the surrounding areas.
The Nikkei 225 opened down 1.37 percent at 9,348.60, but has since stabilized down 1 percent to 9,381.
Shares of Fukushima Daiichi plant operator TEPCO have been halted following reports the company could be nationalized.
