Markets Nervous as Russia/Ukraine War Games Heat Up

Markets are shaky Thursday as geopolitical concerns once again take center-stage. Numerous reports suggest Russian troops and military machinery are on the ground inside Ukraine. Russia, for its part, is denying that its troops are in Ukraine.

The Dow is down 36 points, the S&P 500 is down 2.5 points and the Nasdaq is off 5. All major indices are off the lows of the session.

Today's most telling report about the truth of the Ukraine matter are new satellite images posted by NATO. The images show Russian combat forces engaged in military operations inside the sovereign territory of Ukraine. They show Russian self-propelled artillery units moving in a convoy through the Ukrainian countryside and then preparing for action by establishing firing positions in the area of Krasnodon, Ukraine.

Also telling was news this afternoon that Ukraine will resume its military draft this Autumn.
