W. R. Berkley names Christopher Moede president of Berkley Risk

W. R. Berkley Corporation (NYSE: WRB) has appointed Christopher L. Moede as president of Berkley Risk, effective immediately, according to a company statement.



Moede succeeds John "Jack" M. Goodwin, who has been named chairman of Berkley Risk. Goodwin joined the unit in 2012 and served as executive vice president before becoming president in 2014.



Moede brings more than 20 years of experience in the commercial insurance market. Most recently, he led a global underwriting segment at a multinational insurer.



W. Robert Berkley, Jr., chairman, chief executive officer, and president of W. R. Berkley Corporation, said: "We are pleased to welcome Chris to Berkley Risk. He brings outstanding leadership skills and broad experience in developing risk solutions for customers. We thank Jack for his many years of exceptional service and numerous contributions to our business. We are delighted he will continue in the role of chairman."



Berkley Risk provides at-risk and alternative risk insurance program management services for public entity pools, professional associations, and self-insured clients. It also operates as a third-party administrator managing workers' compensation, liability, and property claims nationwide.
