Vuzix Corporation (NASDAQ: VUZI) announced the appointment of Dr. Chris Parkinson as President, Enterprise Solutions. Parkinson co-founded RealWear, a competitor in the enterprise smart glasses market.
Parkinson brings nearly three decades of experience in augmented reality, artificial intelligence, and software as a service. At RealWear, he served as Chief Technology Officer and later as CEO, overseeing fundraising, international expansion, and strategic acquisitions. In November 2024, he led RealWear's acquisition of Almer Technologies and the company's re-capitalization.
In his new role at Vuzix, Parkinson will oversee the enterprise product portfolio and go-to-market strategy, including sales, strategic partnerships, and global channel expansion. His responsibilities encompass the total customer solution and customer adoption initiatives.
Paul Travers, President and CEO of Vuzix, stated that Parkinson "grew [RealWear] into a global leader by delivering near 100,000 enterprise smart glasses to 5,000+ customers." Travers indicated that Parkinson's appointment will allow him to focus more on waveguide and display technologies and original equipment manufacturer vision at Vuzix.
Parkinson previously worked at Kopin Corporation, Alien Technology, and Pacific Northwest National Laboratory, contributing to wearable and distributed computing platforms. He holds experience in speech-driven interfaces and has a background in entrepreneurship and product development.
Vuzix designs and manufactures AI-powered smart glasses, waveguides, and augmented reality technologies for enterprise, medical, defense, and consumer markets. The company holds more than 450 patents and patents pending in optics and head-mounted displays.
