Vortex Metals names Michael Williams as interim CEO

Vortex Metals Inc. (TSXV: VMS) announced that its board of directors has appointed Michael Williams as interim chief executive officer, effective immediately. Williams, a co-founder of the company and current executive chairman, brings more than 30 years of executive leadership experience in the junior mining industry.

Williams will work alongside Vikas Ranjan, who continues as president and will focus on capital markets and corporate development during the leadership transition. The appointment comes as the Vancouver-based exploration company advances its copper-gold projects in Chile and Mexico.

The new interim CEO has previously founded and structured several Toronto Stock Exchange-listed resource companies. Williams serves as founder and executive chairman of Aftermath Silver Ltd., which has a market capitalization exceeding C$375 million. He also held executive roles at Underworld Resources Ltd., which was acquired by Kinross Gold Corp. for approximately $138 million in 2010.

"Michael has been deeply involved in the strategic direction of Vortex since its inception, and we are confident that his leadership will ensure continuity as we advance our projects in Chile and Mexico," Ranjan said in a statement.

Vortex Metals operates exploration projects across two countries. In Mexico, the company holds the Riqueza Marina and Zaachila properties in Oaxaca, consisting of four exploration concessions covering 15,308 hectares within a volcanogenic massive sulfide district. The company has identified five target areas based on geological and geophysical data.

In Chile, Vortex holds an option to acquire up to 80% interest in the Illapel Copper Project, a brownfield property where Phase 1 drilling conducted last year confirmed copper-silver and gold-copper mineralization.
