Vir Biotechnology names interim CFO as O'Byrne departs

Vir Biotechnology, Inc. (Nasdaq: VIR) announced that its Chief Financial Officer, Jason O'Byrne, is leaving the company, with Brent Sabatini appointed as Interim Principal Financial Officer effective July 23, according to a press release.
O'Byrne will remain with the company through August 3 to assist with the transition. Vir Biotechnology said it has begun a search for a permanent CFO.
Sabatini has served as Senior Vice President and Chief Accounting Officer at Vir Biotechnology since February 2023. Before joining the company, he was Head of Finance at Capsida Biotherapeutics, Inc. and previously held roles at Amgen Inc. from 2004 to 2021, including positions in accounting, tax, and financial planning and analysis. He holds a B.S. in Accountancy from California State University, Northridge and an MBA from the University of Michigan's Stephen M. Ross School of Business, and is a Certified Public Accountant.
Chief Executive Officer Marianne De Backer said Sabatini "has deep institutional knowledge and financial acumen and has played a significant role in our strategic business development efforts and latest public offering, which helped to establish a strong cash position for the Company."
