VERAXA Biotech names Carl von Halem as interim CFO
VERAXA Biotech AG (NASDAQ: VRXA) announced the appointment of Carl von Halem as interim chief financial officer, succeeding Torsten Bürgermeister, according to a company statement dated July 10, 2026.
Von Halem currently serves as chief financial officer of Xlife Sciences AG, a Swiss life-science focused incubator, where the company said he was instrumental in taking VERAXA public. He also holds roles as managing director of Xlife Science GmbH and board member of Axenoll Life Sciences AG and FUSE-AI AG.
Prior to his work in life sciences, von Halem co-founded and served as chief operating officer at CommneX, a Munich-based financial technology company. He also held roles in the renewable energy sector at SaEnergy Systems in Berlin. He holds a master's degree in economics from the Technical University of Berlin.
Oliver R. Baumann, chairman of the VERAXA board, said von Halem "possesses an in-depth understanding of the company's operational management, strategic development, and organizational structure" as a result of his involvement in the listing process. Baumann also thanked Bürgermeister "for his many contributions over the last four and a half years."
VERAXA said it is in the final stages of discussions with a permanent CFO candidate and expects to provide an update to the market in due course.
