Universal Background Screening appointed Val Poltorak as president, the Phoenix-based background screening company announced. Poltorak previously worked at Sterling (NASDAQ: STER), where she led the company's Healthcare division and later managed the Regulated Industries Division.
During her tenure at Sterling, Poltorak helped scale the Healthcare division into the company's largest business unit. She brings more than 20 years of leadership experience in SaaS, FinTech, and regulated industries across both private equity-backed and public companies.
"I have spent my entire professional journey ensuring customer needs remain at the center of everything we do," Poltorak said. "I'm thrilled to join UBS at such a pivotal time for the industry."
Universal Background Screening provides background screening and compliance solutions for organizations in healthcare, staffing, and education sectors. The company serves clients in regulated industries requiring compliance-driven hiring processes.
"Her deep expertise, proven track record, and commitment to clients make her the ideal leader to guide UBS through its next phase of growth and innovation," said Jevin Sackett, chief executive officer of Universal Background Screening.
The appointment comes as the background screening industry incorporates automation and artificial intelligence technologies into service delivery. Universal Background Screening competes in the employment screening market alongside publicly traded companies including Sterling.
