Thomson Reuters names new CFO as Mike Eastwood retires
Thomson Reuters (TSX/NASDAQ: TRI) announced that Chief Financial Officer Mike Eastwood will retire following a planned transition, with Gary E. Bischoping Jr. set to succeed him as CFO on May 8, 2026.
Bischoping will join the company on April 13, 2026, according to the March 2 announcement. Eastwood will transition to Chairman of the Board of the Thomson Reuters Foundation, replacing Jim Smith, the company's former President and CEO. Eastwood will also continue as an advisor to current President and CEO Steve Hasker.
Bischoping brings more than 30 years of global finance leadership experience. He most recently served as a Partner at Hellman & Friedman, where he led the firm's Finance Center of Excellence. Previously, he held CFO positions at Finastra and Varian Medical Systems and spent over 17 years at Dell Technologies in senior finance roles, including divisional CFO and Treasurer.
"Mike has been a principled and trusted leader for Thomson Reuters, guiding the company through a period of meaningful transformation," Hasker said in the announcement. "He strengthened our financial foundation, sharpened our strategic focus, and helped position the company for long term growth."
Regarding the incoming CFO, Hasker noted that Bischoping "brings the right combination of financial rigor, strategic insight, and operational leadership to guide Thomson Reuters through its next chapter."
Both Eastwood and Bischoping will participate in the company's first quarter earnings call scheduled for May 5, 2026, according to the statement.
