Super Micro Computer, Inc. (Nasdaq: SMCI) has appointed Mark Long as Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer, effective immediately, the company said in a press release. Long will report directly to CEO Charles Liang.
Long succeeds David Weigand, who will assist with the transition and shift his focus to other roles within the business.
Long previously served as CFO and Chief Strategy Officer at Western Digital, where he oversaw financial management, investor relations, and corporate strategy. He also co-founded Prime Impact Capital, a technology-focused investment firm, and held a senior vice president role at Hitachi Global Storage Technologies. Earlier in his career, he worked in investment banking covering software, cloud infrastructure, and storage sectors.
"We are pleased to welcome Mark to the Supermicro executive team and look forward to benefitting from his deep strategic expertise and proven leadership," said Charles Liang, Founder, President, and CEO of Supermicro. "I'm confident Mark will have an immediate positive impact in strengthening and accelerating our operational and financial execution."
Liang also noted the company's gratitude to Weigand "for his many years of service as CFO and for his support of an orderly transition."
The company said it conducted an extensive search process before selecting Long for the position.
