SpyGlass Pharma Inc. (NASDAQ: SGP) appointed Shannon Treviño as general counsel, the biopharmaceutical company announced June 15.
Treviño previously served as general counsel and corporate secretary at Inari Medical, where she oversaw legal and compliance functions during the company's $4.9 billion acquisition by Stryker. She also managed Inari's acquisition of LimFlow and its integration.
Before joining Inari, Treviño worked as an attorney at Sugg Law Group, advising early and growth-stage companies on governance, commercial contracts, capital formation and mergers and acquisitions. She spent eight years as a clinical professor and director of the Transactional Lawyering Institute at Loyola Marymount University's Law School, where she taught courses on venture capital and M&A negotiations.
Earlier in her career, she worked as a corporate attorney at Latham & Watkins LLP from 2006 to 2015. Treviño holds a J.D. from LMU Loyola Law School and an A.B. from Princeton University.
"We are delighted to welcome Shannon to our growing team," said Patrick Mooney, CEO of SpyGlass Pharma. "I am confident that Shannon's experiences will be invaluable as we continue to advance our BIM-IOL System through its Phase 3 trials and towards a potential commercialization."
SpyGlass Pharma is conducting two Phase 3 clinical trials of its BIM-IOL System, designed to reduce elevated intraocular pressure in patients with open-angle glaucoma or ocular hypertension. The system comprises drug pads attached to an intraocular lens that delivers bimatoprost for three years following implantation during cataract surgery.
