Sonos names Tom Conrad as permanent chief executive officer

Sonos Inc. (NASDAQ: SONO) appointed Tom Conrad as chief executive officer, removing the interim designation he has held since January. Conrad will continue serving on the company's board of directors.

The Santa Barbara-based audio equipment manufacturer conducted a comprehensive search before selecting Conrad for the permanent role, according to board chair Julius Genachowski. Conrad has served on Sonos' board since 2017.

"Following a comprehensive and competitive search, the Board is confident that Tom is the best person to lead Sonos into its next chapter," Genachowski said in a statement.

During his tenure as interim CEO, Conrad oversaw software improvements and product launches, including enhancements to the Sonos Ace headphones and Arc Ultra soundbar. The company said it established new quality standards for software and product experience under his leadership.

Conrad brings over 30 years of consumer technology experience to the role. He previously served as CEO of Zero Longevity Science from 2021 to 2024, chief product officer at Quibi, and vice president of product at Snap Inc. Earlier in his career, he held the position of chief technology officer at Pandora, where he helped develop the music streaming service's personalized experience.

"Since the beginning of this year, we've reestablished clarity, focus, and momentum at Sonos," Conrad said. "We've dramatically improved our software products and recommitted to delivering the kind of premium experience our customers expect."

Conrad holds a bachelor's degree in computer engineering from the University of Michigan and previously worked at Apple on the Macintosh user interface.

Sonos will report its third quarter 2025 earnings results on August 6, 2025, according to the company's announcement.
