Sonoco names Francesco Giannolo VP/GM of Consumer Packaging EMEA

Sonoco Products Company (NYSE: SON) has appointed Francesco Giannolo as Vice President and General Manager of Sonoco Consumer Packaging, EMEA, according to a company press release. He will report directly to Ernest Haynes, president of Sonoco's Global Consumer Packaging segment.

Giannolo joined Sonoco in 2019 and previously served as Vice President of Commercial for the company's Consumer Packaging EMEA/APAC business. In 2022, he was appointed Vice President and General Manager of Sonoco's Rigid Paper Containers business in EMEA.

Before joining Sonoco, Giannolo spent 23 years in the packaging industry. He began his career at Crown Packaging in 2004 as Plant Manager, then moved to Amcor, where he served as Plant General Manager in its medical division before becoming Senior Director of Commercial Excellence for EMEA. He holds a Master of Science in Environmental and Land Planning Engineering from the Federico II University of Naples.

"As we align our global Consumer Packaging businesses, it is critical that we have a strong, experienced leader in the EMEA region. Francesco is that leader," said Haynes.

The appointment follows Sonoco's recent restructuring of its Global Consumer Packaging businesses under a single integrated leadership structure led by Haynes. That segment reported approximately $5.2 billion in annual sales, with 98 operations across 25 countries and 11,250 employees.
