Scholastic Corporation (NASDAQ: SCHL) appointed Jeffrey Mathews as President of Scholastic Education, effective immediately, while he retains his role as Executive Vice President and Chief Growth Officer. The New York-based executive reports to Peter Warwick, Scholastic's President and Chief Executive Officer.
Mathews has served as interim head of the education division since June 2025. During his tenure, he focused on prioritizing offerings, refining market execution and streamlining operations to improve efficiency and profitability. The division maintained momentum in state and local literacy partnerships while navigating funding volatility and extended decision cycles in the education sector.
"Over the past seven months, Jeff has brought clarity, urgency, and strong market perspective to this business during an important period of transition," said Warwick in the company's announcement.
As President of Scholastic Education, Mathews will focus on delivering learning experiences and supporting educators while continuing his responsibilities as Chief Growth Officer. In that role, he oversees the company's long-term growth strategy implementation and leads corporate development and investor relations functions.
Mathews brings over 30 years of experience in strategy, mergers and acquisitions, and investor relations. He co-founded two technology startups and returned to Scholastic in 2022 as Executive Vice President of Corporate Development and Investor Relations. He previously worked at the company from 2008 to 2012 as Vice President of Corporate Strategy, Business Development and Investor Relations.
The education division operates in the supplemental instructional market, which the company describes as normalizing. Scholastic Education provides literacy-focused learning resources to schools and educators through partnerships with districts and educational organizations.
