Savara promotes Yasmine Wasfi to chief medical officer

Savara Inc. (NASDAQ: SVRA) announced the promotion of Yasmine Wasfi, M.D., Ph.D., FCCP to chief medical officer, effective immediately. Wasfi previously served as executive vice president, head of clinical development and clinical operations at the clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company.

Ray Pratt, M.D., FACP, who previously held the CMO position, will transition to senior medical advisor. Wasfi will report directly to Chair and Chief Executive Officer Matt Pauls and serve as a member of the executive leadership team.

"Dr. Wasfi is a pulmonologist with more than two decades of healthcare experience, spanning both biotech and large pharma," said Pauls in a statement based on the press release. "She has a strong track record progressing and driving the development strategy for investigational therapies within the respiratory and immunology therapeutic areas."

Wasfi has held positions at Amicus Therapeutics, Johnson & Johnson, and Merck. She received a B.A. in Biology from the University of Delaware, an M.D. from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine, and a Ph.D. in Clinical Science from the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center.

The company is focused on rare respiratory diseases, with its lead program MOLBREEVI, a recombinant human granulocyte-macrophage colony-stimulating factor in Phase 3 development for autoimmune pulmonary alveolar proteinosis.

Pratt, who has 35 years of experience in drug development, will continue to support the company's MOLBREEVI program in his advisory role. "It's been a privilege to lead the MOLBREEVI clinical program through numerous late-stage milestones," Pratt said according to the press release.
