SPAR Group CEO to retire in October, names new president

SPAR Group Inc. (NASDAQ: SGRP) announced that Chief Executive Officer Mike Matacunas will retire in October 2025 after nearly five years leading the retail services company. William Linnane, the company's Chief Strategy and Growth Officer, has been appointed President effective immediately.
The Auburn Hills, Michigan-based company also announced that Global Chief Operating Officer Kori Belzer is retiring and Global Chief Commercial Officer Ron Lutz will transition to an executive advisor role as of August 29, 2025.
Matacunas joined SPAR Group in 2021 and led what the company described as a multi-year business transformation. During his tenure, the company exited international joint ventures, doubled its U.S. and Canadian operations, and expanded into new market segments, according to the press release.
Linnane joined SPAR in 2021 as a member of the executive leadership team and has served as Global Chief Strategy and Growth Officer. He previously held senior executive positions at Sears, Eason Retail and Tesco.
"Under Mike's leadership, SPAR Group has been transformed," said James Gillis, Executive Chairman of the SPAR Group Board of Directors, in the announcement. "William is uniquely qualified to lead SPAR through this transition, bringing a blend of expertise in operations, innovation and digital transformation."
SPAR Group provides merchandising, marketing and distribution services to retailers and brands. The company stated it is working with the largest new business pipeline in its 50-year history.
