Portillo's (NASDAQ: PTLO) has appointed Kevin Kalicak as Chief Financial Officer and Treasurer, effective September 7, 2026, according to a press release from the Chicago-based restaurant company.
Kalicak comes to Portillo's after more than 25 years at Darden Restaurants, where he most recently served as Senior Vice President of Finance for Olive Garden. In that role, he oversaw the financial operations of a brand with more than 900 restaurants and $5 billion in annual sales.
As CFO, Kalicak will be responsible for Portillo's finance organization, covering financial planning and analysis, accounting, investor relations, internal audit, tax, and supply chain functions.
Brett Patterson, President and CEO of Portillo's, said Kalicak brings "deep restaurant industry expertise" and "a strong track record of driving profitable growth" to the company.
In connection with his appointment, Kalicak will receive a one-time sign-on equity award valued at $825,000, based on the closing stock price on September 4, 2026. The restricted stock units vest ratably over three years, subject to his continued employment. The award was approved by the company's Compensation Committee and will be granted under the employment inducement award exception provided by Nasdaq Listing Rule 5635(c)(4).
Portillo's operates more than 100 company-owned restaurants across 11 states.
