PolyPid Ltd. (NASDAQ: PYPD) appointed Dr. Nurit Tweezer-Zaks as chief medical officer, effective August 18, 2025. Dr. Tweezer-Zaks will step down from the company's board of directors on August 17 to assume the executive role.
Dr. Tweezer-Zaks has served on PolyPid's board since November 2023. She previously served as chief executive officer of MediCane Health Inc., a medical cannabis company, and held the position of chief medical officer at aMOON Venture Capital Fund. She also worked in senior positions at Sanofi, focusing on external innovation and product lifecycle management.
The appointment follows positive results from PolyPid's Phase 3 SHIELD II trial. The company expects to submit a New Drug Application for D-PLEX100, its lead product candidate for preventing abdominal colorectal surgical site infections, in early 2026.
"Her extensive medical expertise, deep understanding of our technology platform, and broad industry experience make her ideally suited to lead our medical strategy as we prepare for our upcoming New Drug Application submission and advance our pipeline," said Dikla Czaczkes Akselbrad, PolyPid's chief executive officer.
Dr. Tweezer-Zaks began her career as an internal medicine and rheumatology physician at Sheba Medical Center in Israel for nearly 15 years. She holds medical and bachelor's degrees from Ben-Gurion University School of Medicine and an MBA from the Kellogg-Recanati International Executive MBA Program.
PolyPid develops controlled-release therapeutics using its PLEX technology platform. The company has additional programs in oncology, obesity and diabetes, including a recently announced GLP-1 program.
