Nova Scotia Power names Vivek Sood as new CEO
Nova Scotia Power announced that Vivek Sood will become president and CEO effective March 1, 2026, replacing Peter Gregg who will transition to a new role with parent company Emera Inc.
Sood has served on Nova Scotia Power's board since June 2024 and spent more than 20 years in senior leadership positions with Sobeys and Empire Group of Companies. His background includes corporate strategy, operations and finance leadership.
Gregg, who has led Nova Scotia Power since November 2020, will become executive vice president of strategy and policy at Emera Inc. During his tenure, the company completed reliability investments and infrastructure projects including the Wasoqonatl Intertie Project developed with Mi'kmaw communities and the Canadian Infrastructure Bank.
"His business acumen, depth of experience, and deep Nova Scotia roots are a strong asset as we focus on the next chapter, delivering for customers and strengthening relationships with stakeholders," said Scott Balfour, board chair of Nova Scotia Power.
The utility serves approximately 550,000 customers across Nova Scotia and employs more than 2,200 people. The company is regulated by the Nova Scotia Energy Board.
Nova Scotia Power continues to focus on reliability investments and infrastructure projects including battery storage and the Nova Scotia-New Brunswick Intertie Project. The company is also working to restore systems following a cyberattack in April 2025.
