Nations Royalty Corp. (TSXV: NRC) (OTCQB: NRYCF) (FSE: Y96) appointed Derrick Pattenden as president and chief executive officer, effective immediately, according to a company statement.

Pattenden succeeds Robert McLeod, who founded the company and served as CEO and director since its inception. McLeod will remain as a director and is transitioning to become CEO of Ascot Resources Ltd. Nations Royalty holds royalty interests in Ascot's Premier and Red Mountain deposits.

Pattenden, a member of the Mohawks of the Bay of Quinte First Nation, served as the company's chief investment officer since May 2024 and was appointed to the board of directors at the most recent annual general meeting. He has over 15 years of mining industry experience in finance, mergers and acquisitions, and holds a Bachelor of Applied Science in Mining Engineering from the University of British Columbia and is a Chartered Financial Analyst.

"His vision was instrumental in creating Canada's first majority Indigenous-owned publicly traded mining royalty company," Pattenden said of McLeod in the statement.

Nations Royalty describes itself as uniting First Nations and Indigenous groups across Canada with external investors as shareholders. The company holds five annual benefit payment entitlements from properties including the Brucejack gold mine operated by Newmont Corporation, the KSM deposit being developed by Seabridge Gold Inc., and projects owned by Ascot Resources Ltd.
