Monopar names medical affairs chief, gets two AASLD presentations

Monopar Therapeutics Inc. (Nasdaq: MNPR) has appointed Jeffrey D. Kent, M.D., as Executive Vice President and Head of Medical Affairs, effective September 1, 2026, according to a company statement.



Dr. Kent brings more than 20 years of biopharmaceutical experience in medical affairs, clinical development, and regulatory strategy. He most recently served as Chief Medical Officer of Sling Therapeutics. Before that, he spent more than a decade at Horizon Therapeutics, where he held the role of Executive Vice President, Medical Affairs, and helped lead efforts including the TEPEZZA Biologics License Application and its FDA Advisory Committee meeting. Earlier in his career, he led global medical affairs for HUMIRA at Abbott Laboratories.



In his new role, Dr. Kent will lead Monopar's medical affairs organization as the company pursues potential FDA approval of its New Drug Application for ALXN1840, a drug candidate for Wilson disease.



Monopar also announced that two abstracts on ALXN1840 have been accepted for presentation at the American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases (AASLD) – The Liver Meeting 2026, scheduled for November 5-9, 2026, in Denver, Colorado.



One abstract, examining residual disease burden in treatment-experienced Wilson disease patients from the FoCus Phase 3 trial, was selected for an oral presentation on November 8, 2026. A second abstract, addressing molybdenum balance and safety data for tiomolibdate choline, was selected for a poster presentation on November 5, 2026.



AASLD is scheduled to release the abstracts publicly on October 5, 2026, with publication in the October supplement of Hepatology.



Wilson disease is a rare genetic disorder affecting approximately 1 in 30,000 people worldwide, causing toxic copper accumulation in the liver, brain, and other organs.
