Mizuho appoints Hartnett to head Americas and EMEA fixed income

Mizuho Financial Group (NYSE: MFG) announced leadership changes in its global fixed income organization within Mizuho Securities. Thomas Hartnett will serve as Head of Americas and EMEA Fixed Income, expanding his role from previously leading the Americas division only.

Hartnett's responsibilities now encompass fixed income businesses and operations across the Americas and Europe as an integrated platform. Taihei Okabe will serve as Head of Fixed Income for the Asia-Pacific region, including Japan.

"This organizational change creates an integrated platform within the Global Markets Division and marks an important step in our ongoing efforts to deepen global connectivity and deliver seamless service to clients worldwide," said Daishi Sasaki, Global Head of Markets at Mizuho Securities.

Hartnett joined Mizuho in 2016 as Head of Fixed Income Sales & Trading for Americas. The company states it has established positions in macro trading, derivative solutions, securitized products including agency mortgage-backed securities and collateralized loan obligations, and areas of flow and structured credit.

Jerry Rizzieri, President and CEO of Mizuho Securities USA and Head of Corporate and Investment Banking for Mizuho Americas, said the structure aims to capture opportunities in the global fixed income market.

Mizuho Financial Group reports total assets of approximately $2 trillion according to S&P Global 2024 data. The company employs 65,000 people worldwide and operates in 36 countries through 850 offices across the Americas, Europe, Middle East, Africa, and Asia.
