Micross Components names James Cannon as CEO

Micross Components Inc. announced the appointment of James J. Cannon as president and chief executive officer, effective immediately. Cannon succeeds Vincent Buffa, who will remain with the company as a senior executive advisor and board member.
The Melville, New York-based company provides microelectronic products and services for aerospace, defense, space, medical and industrial applications. Micross is owned by private equity firm Behrman Capital.
"Jim brings deep operational expertise, a strong track record in leading and growing complex global industrial organizations, and significant experience in defense and high-reliability technology markets," said Simon Lonergan, managing partner at Behrman Capital.
Cannon brings more than 25 years of leadership experience in defense, security and industrial businesses. He most recently served as president and CEO of AM General LLC, a military and commercial tactical vehicle manufacturer. Previously, he was CEO of FLIR Systems Inc. (NASDAQ: FLIR), where he led the sensor and unmanned systems company through its sale to Teledyne Technologies Inc. (NYSE: TDY).
Earlier in his career, Cannon held senior positions at Stanley Black & Decker Inc. (NYSE: SWK), including president of Stanley Security for North America and emerging markets. He also worked at Eaton Corporation (NYSE: ETN).
Cannon serves on the boards of the Association of the United States Army and Hexcel Corporation (NYSE: HXL). He is a U.S. Army veteran who served for ten years as an infantryman and armor officer, including deployments during Operation Desert Shield, Operation Desert Storm and peace enforcement operations in Bosnia.
