M&T Bank names Jeff Carpenter Massachusetts regional president

M&T Bank Corporation (NYSE: MTB) announced the appointment of Jeff Carpenter as Regional President for Massachusetts, effective immediately.
Carpenter previously served as Executive Vice President and Head of Specialty and Corporate Banking at M&T Bank since 2023. In his new role, he will oversee regional leaders across retail banking, business banking, commercial banking, wealth management, government banking and charitable operations.
The appointment expands Carpenter's responsibilities to include leading the Boston-based team and managing M&T's operations throughout Massachusetts. Carpenter will continue his community involvement, serving on boards including the YMCA of Greater Boston, Just Living Communities and the Greater Boston Chamber of Commerce.
"Jeff's appointment underscores M&T Bank's commitment to strong, local leadership in Massachusetts as we continue to grow our presence in across New England," said Augie Chiasera, M&T Bank Senior Executive Vice President and Head of Community Markets.
Carpenter brings more than 20 years of banking experience to the position. Before joining M&T Bank, he held leadership roles in capital markets, commercial banking and credit teams at People's United Bank, Banco Santander and Sovereign Bank. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance from Bentley University.
M&T Bank operates 61 branches in Massachusetts and employs 678 people across its corporate offices and branch network in the state. The bank donated nearly $5 million to local nonprofits in the previous year, with employees contributing 7,300 volunteer hours.
M&T Bank Corporation is headquartered in Buffalo, New York, and provides banking services across 12 eastern U.S. states from Maine to Virginia and Washington, D.C.
