LightPath Technologies names Stephen Mielke as VP of engineering

LightPath Technologies Inc. (NASDAQ: LPTH) appointed Stephen L. Mielke as vice president of engineering, effective immediately, according to a company statement.
Mielke brings over 20 years of experience in the photonics industry, with expertise in electro-optical systems and technologies across automotive LiDAR, semiconductor equipment, and optical metrology applications.
Prior to joining LightPath, Mielke served as optical system architect for advanced development at Luminar Technologies, where he led development of optical architecture for the company's next-generation automotive LiDAR systems. He previously held the position of director of engineering at Zygo Corporation, managing a 30-engineer team developing optical metrology tools.
Mielke holds a bachelor's degree in physics from Lawrence University and master's and doctoral degrees in physics from SUNY Stony Brook.
"Steve brings deep, firsthand experience across the full product lifecycle, transitioning new products from development to production," said Sam Rubin, president and CEO of LightPath. LightPath Technologies operates as a provider of optics and imaging systems for defense and commercial applications, with manufacturing facilities in Florida, Texas, New Hampshire, Latvia, and China. The company produces custom solutions ranging from chalcogenide-based glass materials to complete infrared optical systems.
