Kaiser Aluminum names Fred Stephan as CEO, effective November 2026

Kaiser Aluminum Corporation (NASDAQ: KALU) announced that its board of directors has appointed Fred Stephan as President and Chief Executive Officer, effective November 1, 2026, as part of a long-term succession planning process.

Stephan succeeds Keith A. Harvey, who has served as CEO since July 31, 2020, and as Chairman of the Board since January 1, 2025. Harvey will remain on the board as Executive Chairman and serve as a special advisor to Stephan through October 31, 2027. Stephan will also join the board upon his appointment.

Stephan brings 38 years of manufacturing and operations experience. He most recently served as Chief Operating Officer of Amcor Global Flexible Packaging Solutions, overseeing operations across more than 200 manufacturing sites in over 35 countries. From 2019 to 2024, he served as Business Group President of Amcor Flexibles North America. Before that, he held the role of President of Bemis North America prior to Amcor's acquisition of Bemis Company. He also spent more than a decade in senior leadership roles at Johns Manville, a Berkshire Hathaway company, and earlier held positions at General Electric Company, including President and CEO of GE Lighting Systems. Stephan holds a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Purdue University.

Lead Independent Director Michael Arnold said the board conducted a "deliberate and comprehensive CEO succession process" before selecting Stephan. Arnold also noted Harvey's 45-year tenure with the company, crediting him with building the company's operational and commercial teams and establishing a leadership development program.

Kaiser Aluminum, headquartered in Franklin, Tennessee, produces semi-fabricated specialty aluminum products for aerospace, packaging, automotive, and other industrial markets. Its stock is included in the Russell 2000 and S&P Small Cap 600 indexes.
