J.M. Smucker announces executive restructuring, eliminates COO role

The J.M. Smucker Co. (NYSE: SJM) announced a series of senior leadership changes effective February 9, including the elimination of its Chief Operating Officer position and the departure of John Brase from that role.
Chief Financial Officer Tucker Marshall received a promotion to Chief Financial Officer | Executive Vice President, Frozen Handheld and Spreads and Sweet Baked Snacks. His expanded responsibilities include overseeing U.S. Retail Frozen Handheld and Spreads, Sweet Baked Snacks, and International businesses, along with the company's sales function.
Rob Ferguson, previously Senior Vice President and General Manager of Coffee and Procurement, was promoted to Chief Product Supply Officer | Executive Vice President, Coffee, Pet, and Away from Home. Ferguson will oversee operations, supply chain, procurement, quality assurance, research and development, and strategic leadership of U.S. Retail Coffee, U.S. Retail Pet Foods, and Away From Home businesses.
Jill Penrose expanded her role from Chief People and Company Services Officer to Chief People and Administrative Officer | Chief of Staff, adding corporate strategy and chief of staff responsibilities to her existing duties.
Mark Smucker resumed the President title, serving as Chief Executive Officer, President and Chair of the Board. Marshall, Ferguson, and Penrose will report directly to Smucker.
Additional changes include Tim Wayne's promotion to Senior Vice President and General Manager, Coffee and Away From Home, and Robert Crane's promotion to Senior Vice President, Head of Sales and International. These positions become effective July 27.
Randy Day, Senior Vice President of Operations, and Bryan Hutson, Senior Vice President of Information Services and Supply Chain, announced their retirement plans. The company will search for a Chief Technology Officer, Senior Vice President of Operations and Supply Chain, and Senior Vice President of Science and Technical Community.
Smucker expects to maintain its fiscal 2026 outlook and will provide updates during its third quarter earnings call on February 26, 2026.
