IonQ names Katie Arrington as chief information officer

IonQ (NYSE: IONQ) announced that Katie Arrington will join the quantum computing company as Chief Information Officer starting January 19, 2026. Arrington previously served as the Department of War's Chief Information Officer.



The company also promoted Leslie Kershaw from IonQ Capella to Chief Information Security Officer. Kershaw will report to Arrington in the newly expanded role.



As CIO, Arrington will oversee protection and modernization of IonQ's global enterprise systems, safeguard digital assets and supply chains, and strengthen operational and cyber resilience. She will report to Chief Operating Officer and Chief Financial Officer Inder Singh.



Arrington's federal service included roles as Deputy CIO for Cybersecurity, where she led defense-wide oversight of cyber strategy, governance, and compliance. She also served as CISO for Acquisition & Sustainment, where she developed the Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification program. Her industry experience includes positions at Exiger, Booz Allen Hamilton, Centuria Corporation, and Dispersive Networks.



Kershaw brings nearly two decades of cyber leadership experience, including service as Cyber Technical Director for Space DELTA 6, U.S. Space Force, where she guided cyber architecture and operational readiness across 13 global locations. In her new role, she will manage federal and commercial cybersecurity requirements and enterprise security.



The appointments come as IonQ expands its quantum computing operations globally. The company operates in multiple countries and provides quantum computing services through major cloud providers. IonQ reported achieving 99.99% two-qubit gate fidelity in 2025.
