Infleqtion names ex-Lockheed Martin fellow as quantum computing SVP

Infleqtion (NYSE: INFQ) has appointed Dr. Joseph Buck as senior vice president of quantum computing systems, effective July 27, 2026. Dr. Buck will lead development of Sqale, the company's neutral-atom quantum computer.

Dr. Buck joins Infleqtion from Lockheed Martin, where he held the position of senior fellow at the Advanced Technology Center. He holds a Ph.D. in physics from the California Institute of Technology, where his doctoral research focused on trapping single neutral atoms inside high-finesse optical cavities. He has spent 23 years building quantum, optical, and photonic systems and has authored more than 60 technical publications.

"The era of proving quantum science is over. Now we build," said Matthew Kinsella, chief executive officer of Infleqtion. "Joe has worked on neutral atoms since his doctorate, and he has spent his career delivering systems for customers who do not accept excuses."

"Most quantum programs are still waiting on the physics. Infleqtion is past that," said Dr. Buck. "I have spent decades building systems that either hold up in the field or do not ship. The architecture works. My job is to build it at scale."

Infleqtion states it has delivered a 100-physical-qubit quantum computing system to the United Kingdom's National Quantum Computing Centre and has systems deployed in Japan. The company has also announced plans to deliver a fault-tolerant neutral-atom quantum computer to the Illinois Quantum & Microelectronics Park in 2027.
