Hyperion DeFi Inc. (NASDAQ: HYPD) announced the appointment of David Knox as Chief Financial Officer, effective immediately. Knox joins from PayPal, where he served as Head of Capital Markets and Head of Finance for Global Credit and Financial Services.

At PayPal, Knox led the expansion of the company's lending segments and managed financial planning and analysis responsibilities across PayPal and Venmo platforms. His background includes roles at Cantor Fitzgerald as Director, where he provided capital markets structuring and advisory services for mortgage-backed and asset-backed finance transactions. He previously worked at SoFi, Hudson Advisors, and Royal Bank of Scotland.

Knox holds a bachelor's degree from the University of Connecticut and is a Harvard Business School alumnus. He is a Chartered Financial Analyst.

In connection with the appointment, Hyperion DeFi granted Knox a restricted stock unit award of 100,000 shares. The grant vests in two equal installments, with 50% vesting after six months and the remainder after twelve months, subject to continued employment.

"David has helped lead some of the largest financial institutions in the world, and now he's bringing that expertise to accelerate our mission of moving institutional finance to Hyperliquid," said Hyunsu Jung, Interim Chief Executive Officer.

Knox stated his intention to leverage industry connections across institutional finance, particularly in fixed income and structured products including asset-backed securities, collateralized loan obligations, and whole loans.

Hyperion DeFi describes itself as the first U.S. publicly listed company building a strategic treasury of HYPE, the native token of the Hyperliquid blockchain platform. The company also develops ophthalmic delivery devices for eye treatments.
