Hyperion DeFi, Inc. (NASDAQ: HYPD) appointed Hyunsu Jung as chief executive officer, effective immediately, according to a company statement. The board of directors also named Robert Rubenstein as general counsel, effective January 12, 2026.
Jung joined Hyperion DeFi as chief investment officer in June 2025, where he developed on-chain business lines and expanded institutional relationships. Before joining the company, he worked at DARMA Capital, a $1 billion asset manager registered with the CFTC and NFA, where he designed digital asset strategies for Ethereum and Filecoin.
The company previously appointed David Knox as chief financial officer on September 29, 2025. Knox has held leadership roles at PayPal, SoFi, and Cantor Fitzgerald.
"I am honored to step into the CEO role at Hyperion DeFi during this important phase for the digital asset industry," Jung said. "Our focus is on building a leading Hyperliquid-native DeFi company that supports global adoption, monetizes growth through disciplined on-chain strategies, and provides shareholders with meaningful exposure to the expansion of the Hyperliquid ecosystem."
Rubenstein brings nearly three decades of legal experience and has managed more than $20 billion in corporate transactions throughout his career. He has overseen global regulatory compliance programs and litigation matters in U.S. and international jurisdictions.
Hyperion DeFi describes itself as the first U.S. publicly listed company building a strategic treasury of HYPE, the native token of the Hyperliquid blockchain platform. The company also develops an ophthalmic device called Optejet for eye treatments.
