Herbalife Ltd. (NYSE: HLF) announced that Chief Executive Officer Stephan Gratziani will leave the role effective October 31, 2026, transitioning to a consultant position focused on strategy and business development.
Following his departure, Gratziani said he plans to return his primary focus to his independent Herbalife distributorship, which encompasses nearly 700,000 distributors and preferred members.
The company's Board of Directors has formed a committee to oversee the search for a successor. John DeSimone, Herbalife's current Chief Financial Officer, will assume the role of Interim Chief Executive Officer beginning November 1, 2026.
DeSimone has been with Herbalife for nearly 20 years, previously serving in roles including President, Chief Strategy Officer, and Special Advisor to the CEO.
Gratziani joined Herbalife in August 2023 as Chief Strategy Officer under an initial two-and-a-half-year agreement. He was later elevated to CEO. According to the company's statement, Herbalife had experienced 12 consecutive quarters of decline at the time of his appointment.
"With the business now having returned to growth and a strong foundation in place, this is the right time for the company to enter its next phase, with an increased focus on execution and operations across our complex global company," Gratziani said in the statement.
Executive Chairman and Chairman of the Board Michael O. Johnson acknowledged the transition, stating the board looks forward to Gratziani's ongoing contributions as a consultant as the company continues to advance its strategy "with an increasing emphasis on execution and operating performance."
