Happy Belly Food Group Inc. (CSE: HBFG) (OTCQB: HBFGF) has promoted Ian Thomas to Chief Financial Officer, effective August 6, 2026, according to a press release from the Toronto-based restaurant brand consolidator.

Thomas succeeds Shawn Moniz, who served as interim CFO for one year. Moniz will continue with the company in his role as Co-founder and Chief Operating Officer.

Thomas joined Happy Belly in January 2026 as Executive Vice President of Finance. Before that, he spent nine years at Boston Pizza International, where he served as Vice President of Finance and held a dual role as Vice President of Business Technology for four years. He oversaw financial operations for both the private franchisor and a public income fund.

Thomas holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from Simon Fraser University and is a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA, CA).

"Ian has quickly demonstrated the leadership, financial discipline and operational expertise required to help guide Happy Belly through its next stage of growth," said CEO Sean Black. "His deep understanding of franchised restaurant systems, public-company reporting and scalable financial operations makes him the right person to serve as our Chief Financial Officer."

In his new role, Thomas will oversee financial strategy, reporting, forecasting, risk management, and financial systems. He will work alongside Vice President of Finance Josh Hone and the company's board of directors.

Happy Belly's portfolio includes Heal Wellness, Rosie's Burgers, Yolks Breakfast, and Via Cibo Italian Street Food, among other brands.
