HIVE Digital hires HPC veteran, reports $1M+ in daily revenue

September 10, 2026 1:02 AM EDT

HIVE Digital Technologies Ltd. (TSX: HIVE) (NASDAQ: HIVE), through its subsidiary BUZZ High Performance Computing Inc., announced the appointment of Mark Volk as Senior Vice President, Revenue. The company also disclosed that it has surpassed $1 million in average daily revenue from combined Bitcoin mining and GPU cloud services, according to a press release.

Volk brings approximately 30 years of experience in AI, HPC, cloud and enterprise infrastructure. He previously served as CEO of CiphexAI Corporation and spent five years at Hewlett Packard Enterprise, where he held roles including General Manager of HPC and AI Commercial for the Americas. During his tenure at HPE, the HPC and AI business grew approximately 425% to more than $2 billion in revenue. At IBM, he managed a portfolio of approximately $1.2 billion and helped launch its first HPC Cloud SaaS offering. He holds an MBA from the University of Ottawa's Telfer School of Management.

In his new role, Volk will lead BUZZ HPC's go-to-market strategy across enterprise, government, sovereign AI, hyperscale, research and academic markets. He reports to Craig Tavares, President and Chief Operating Officer of BUZZ HPC.

HIVE President and CEO Aydin Kilic said Volk had worked as a consultant with the company for approximately nine months, during which the GPU cloud demand pipeline grew to more than $1 billion in total contract value potential. The company said it has closed more than $600 million in total contract value year to date for GPU cloud contracts, including three- and five-year agreements. Total contract value is not a recognized measure under U.S. GAAP and does not guarantee future revenue.

On August 21, 2026, HIVE exceeded $1 million in daily revenue from hashrate and GPU cloud services combined. Since then, the company reports producing an average of approximately 12 Bitcoin per day, representing approximately 2% of global Bitcoin network production, while GPU cloud operations have generated approximately $100,000 in average daily revenue. These figures are based on preliminary, unaudited management estimates.

HIVE also said it intends to wind down Bitcoin mining at its Swedish facilities, which accounted for less than 5% of global daily revenue in August, as it evaluates repurposing that infrastructure for HPC and AI applications.
