Expion Energy names Robert Winspear as new CFO
Expion Energy, Inc. (Nasdaq: XPON), formerly known as Expion360 Inc., has appointed Robert Winspear as Chief Financial Officer, effective August 25, 2026, according to a company statement.
Winspear succeeds Shawna Bowin, who will remain with the Redmond, Oregon-based company through the end of October 2026 to assist with the transition.
Winspear brings more than 30 years of experience working with private and public companies. Most recently, he served as a director and CFO of Blackboxstocks Inc. from September 2021 to June 2026, including through the company's $1 billion merger with REalloys Inc. (Nasdaq: ALOY). From May 2014 to June 2017, he served as vice president, secretary and CFO of Excel Corporation. He began his career at Arthur Andersen in Dallas and holds a BBA and MPA from the University of Texas at Austin.
Winspear has led mergers and acquisitions transactions valued at more than $1.5 billion and capital raising transactions valued at more than $500 million.
In connection with the appointment, the company's Compensation Committee approved a grant to Winspear of 30,000 restricted stock units and a conditional grant of 15,000 stock options as an inducement award under Nasdaq Listing Rule 5635(c)(4). Twenty-five percent of the awards will vest on the first anniversary of the grant date, with the remainder vesting in 12 equal quarterly installments thereafter, subject to continued employment.
Expion Energy operates a lithium iron phosphate battery business serving recreational vehicle, marine, and industrial markets, and has recently stated it is expanding into oil and gas exploration.
