Essity names Andreas Mattsson as Chief Legal Officer starting 2027

Essity, a hygiene and health company, has appointed Andreas Mattsson as its new Chief Legal Officer and member of the Executive Management Team, effective January 1, 2027, according to a company statement.

Mattsson succeeds Mikael Schmidt, who has decided to retire on December 31, 2026. Schmidt has been a member of Essity's Executive Management Team since the company's stock market listing in 2017.

Mattsson joins from Billerud, where he served as General Counsel since 2013. Before that, he worked at law firm Cederquist. In his new role, he will also be responsible for compliance and risk management at Essity.

Essity President and CEO Ulrika Kolsrud said in the statement: "Andreas is an experienced General Counsel and leader with broad business law expertise and solid experience from international operations in listed companies."

Board Chairman Jan Gurander also commented on Schmidt's departure: "Mikael has been a highly trusted advisor to the Board of Directors. On behalf of the Board, I would like to thank him for his work as Secretary to the Board and for the excellent collaboration over the years."
