Dynex Capital Inc. (NYSE: DX) appointed Michael Sartori as chief financial officer, effective immediately, replacing Robert Colligan who departed by mutual agreement.
Sartori previously served as head of capital markets and financial planning and analysis at the mortgage real estate investment trust. He joined Dynex in 2013 as assistant controller and was promoted to his most recent role in 2019.
"We are pleased to have an executive of Mike's caliber step into the CFO role, as his foundation in accounting and corporate finance, paired with his capital markets expertise and track record of success at Dynex, makes him uniquely suited for this position," said Smriti Laxman Popenoe, co-chief executive officer and president.
Colligan will remain with the company in an advisory role through May 1, 2026, to facilitate the transition. The company stated his departure was unrelated to financial reporting or controls.
Before joining Dynex, Sartori worked at Genworth in various accounting management roles focused on derivatives accounting. He previously worked at Deloitte and Grant Thornton LLP. Sartori holds an undergraduate degree in accounting and finance from George Mason University and is a certified public accountant.
In his previous role at Dynex, Sartori oversaw performance monitoring for the company and its investment products, developed financial models for transaction analysis, and managed forecasting and analysis functions.
Dynex Capital is an internally managed REIT that invests in mortgage assets backed by U.S. residential and commercial real estate.
