Dogwood Therapeutics CMO to present pain research at summit

Dogwood Therapeutics Inc. (NASDAQ: DWTX) announced that Chief Medical Officer Dr. Michael Gendreau will present an overview of the company's Halneuron pain research program at the 19th Annual Pain Therapeutics Summit on October 14, 2025.

The biotechnology company is developing Halneuron, a purified version of tetrodotoxin, to treat chemotherapy induced neuropathic pain. The drug targets the Nav 1.7 sodium channel involved in pain transmission in the peripheral nervous system.

A recent preclinical study compared Halneuron's efficacy with VX-548 in rats with chemotherapy induced neuropathic pain. Both drugs significantly reduced mechanical allodynia, with Halneuron demonstrating pain reduction comparable to or greater than VX-548. The combination of both agents did not show additive benefits.

Over 700 patients have received tetrodotoxin treatment in human clinical studies for various potential indications. Halneuron showed pain reduction in general cancer-related pain in a Phase 2 study and a subsequent Phase 2 chemotherapy induced neuropathic pain study.

The company is currently conducting a Phase 2b clinical trial called HALT-CINP at 25 sites in the United States. The study evaluates the safety and efficacy of low-dose injectable Halneuron in reducing long-standing chemotherapy induced neuropathic pain in cancer patients. Interim data from the ongoing study are expected in the fourth quarter of 2025.

Dogwood is also developing SP16 IV, an LRP1 agonist for treating neuropathy and preventing nerve damage following chemotherapy. A Phase 1b trial for SP16 IV, funded by the National Cancer Institute, is projected to begin enrolling patients in the first half of 2026.
