Discovery Mining names new board member and promotes executives

Discovery Mining Ltd. (TSX: DSV, OTCQX: DSVSF) announced several management changes, including a new board appointment, a new advisory role, and multiple internal promotions.



William "Bill" Shaver has been appointed to the company's board of directors. Shaver co-founded Dynatec Corporation in 1980 and most recently served as chief operating officer of McEwan Mining Inc. He holds a BSc. in Mining Engineering from Queens University and is a Professional Engineer.



Ewan Downie has been appointed as advisor to the president, CEO and chairman. Downie founded i-80 Gold Corp., where he served as CEO until 2024, and previously founded Premier Gold Mines Inc., which was acquired by Equinox Gold Corp. in 2021. He is currently managing partner of Giant Venture Capital Group Inc.



The company also announced the following internal promotions:




  • Duncan King to co-chief operating officer

  • Gord Leavoy to co-chief operating officer

  • Eric Kallio to executive vice president, exploration

  • Darin Smith to executive vice president, business development and strategy

  • Mark Utting to executive vice president, investor relations and communications

  • Amanda Kasner to senior vice president, finance and treasury

  • Meri Verli to senior vice president, business improvements



Mike Mayhew has been appointed vice president, special projects. Mayhew previously worked as a consultant to Discovery and held roles at Kirkland Lake Gold Ltd.
